Mostar Received the Most Beautiful Promenade in BiH

MostarThe official opening of the street Nikola Šubić Zrinski took place in Mostar last night, which stretches from the Spanish Square to the Square of Croatian Nobles.

The project of the reconstruction of the promenade was worth over 1.120.000 KM, and the project was financed by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications, which allocated 800.000 KM for the pavement, UNDP donated 100.000 KM for the street lighting and benches, and the city of Mostar gave 220.000 KM for the underground installations, hydraulic barriers and the green space.

The project was completed with the maintenance of the Spanish square, and was worth 1.400.000 KM, of which the City of Mostar ensured 250.000 KM, and the Spanish government donated the rest.

The Mayor of Mostar Ljubo Bešlić, Spanish Ambassador to BiH Aurora Mejia Errasquin, representative of UNDP Jurij Afanasijev and the Federal Minister of Transport and Communications Enver Bijedić, officially opened the promenade.

Mejia said that she was glad to be in Mostar because it has special significance for citizens of Spain. She expressed her satisfaction because the Spanish square is a meeting place, a place for rest and connections.

Addressing those were present, Afanasijev said that for UNDP it is most important to see this street full of people and of youth.

According to the Federal Minister Bijedić, Mostar received one of the most beautiful promenades in BiH. He referred to the time when Mostar suffered widespread destruction and stressed that Mostar deserves to shine. “A very important project has been finished and one more promise was fulfilled’’, said Bijedić.

The Mostar Mayor said that Mostar received the most beautiful promenade in BiH with this project.

“The promenade and the Spanish square will permanently connect citizens of Mostar with the citizens of Spain, but with the rest of the world. The monument on the square will remind citizens, and all those who pass by on the selfless sacrifice made by the Spanish members of the peacekeeping force in Mostar and in BiH during the last 20 years”, said Bešlić.
