ferhadija-mosqueEid al-Adha, just like Eid al-Fitr, is a joy for every faithful Muslim and a reminder on the need for turning to the family and family values.

In Banja Luka, after the Eid prayer and Eid central event in Ferhat Pasha’s Mosque, was organized socializing with believers and guests, and according to the Chief Imam of the Islamic Community of Banja Luka, Muhedin ef. Spahic, this holiday should be especially dedicated to children.

“The believers gather in their homes on Eid, and socialize over the Eid lunch prepared with their Eid meat, and we should turn to the children on this holiday. In this regard, we organized free entertainment for all children regardless of their religion in kindergarten Pahuljica, which was opened as part of our religious community,” said imam Spahic.

Eid is also a reminder on the importance of co-existence.

“We are sharing our Eid meat with our neighbors, the Orthodox Christians, so that they also know that it is Eid, and when they know that it is Eid than the blessings of Eid are complete. Our neighbors should always be in the first place and we need to nurture mutual respect,” said Spahic.

Next to Ferhat Pasha’s Mosque we saw the believers who, because of the celebration of Eid al-Adha came from all over Europe and the world, and one of them is Sefika Ramisevic.

“This day, together with Eid al-Fitr, is our favorite holiday. I am born in Banja Luka, but I live in Cologne, Germany, for many years. I came to my hometown to celebrate this happy holiday with my friends and relatives,” said Serifa, adding that she also participated in collecting contributions for the construction of Ferhat Pasha’s Mosque.

Rasema Bilic also visited Ferhadija Mosque. She claims that Ferhat Pasha’s Mosque is the heart of Banja Luka.

“It means a lot to us to celebrate the Eid al-Adha in the renovated Ferhadija Mosque this year. It’s nice to come and pray here because there is a lot of visitors during the holidays, and we met friends and acquaintances that we have not seen for a long time,” said Rasema.

Rasema and Sefika said that all people, regardless of their religion and nationality, should be together in trust and love, and we should help our neighbors.

“No matter the hard times we live in, we believe that we will overcome all the difficulties that surround us, and after we managed to overcome the past times, we will go through everything,” they said.
