The meteor shower of Perseids, which comes from the tiny residues of the Swift-Tuttle comet, is the most spectacular meteor shower that takes place every year in July and August, as announced by the Astronomical Society Orion.
The flight of meteor in the sky people often call as a shooting star, and this meteor shower is known as tears of St. Lovro.
Considering that most of the meteors are coming from the constellation Perzej, this meteor shower was named after it. This constellation at this time of year can be seen in the northeastern part of the sky.
Even though you can see several meteor showers during a year, Perseids are very interesting because of the fact that a total of 100 meteors can be seen within an hour.
Astronomical Society Orion is traditionally organizing the public observation event on this occasion that will be followed by short lectures on meteors.
There will also be a short course of observing the sky, and the ways of photographing the meteors.
The event will be organized today under the mountain house “Bijele Vode” in Bjelasnica, starting at 8:00 PM.
