N. Casey: BiH Presidency Open to All

The Ambassador of Great Britain to BiH Nigel Casey said that, according to the Brussels model for resolving the decision in the “Sejdić-Finci” ruling, anyone has the option of being a candidate for the BiH Presidency.

“This would be a huge improvement in comparison with the existing unacceptable exclusion of those who do not label themselves as Bosniaks, Serbs or Croats’’, said Casey for Sarajevo-based newspaper Oslobođenje.

According to him, the implementation of the ruling is crucial for BiH and should not be subject to political games for the benefit of party politics.

“This is a screening test of seriousness of the parties when it comes to EU integration, so that the main cities in EU countries will carefully examine the process and long remember anyone who tries to break this agreement”, said the British Ambassador to BiH.

Speaking of the crisis in the FBiH, he said that the position of the High Represenative and the Council for Implementing Peace in BiH is that it is a crisis that stems from local political competition and that it should be resolved through local constitutional mechanisms.
