Scientific session on great BiH poet Izet Kiko Sarajlić was held in Sarajevo at the Academy of Science and Arts of BIH in Sarajevo, in organisation of Academy and PEN Centre in BiH, reports FENA.
Representatives of this session talked about significance and role of Izet Kiko Sarajlić in BiH poetry, society and culture, and tried to discuss different aspects of his poetry.
Hanifa Kapidžić-Osmanagić said that Sarajlić is one of the most famous BiH poets from the second half of 20th century who published around 30 books of poetry whose main idea is to break with poetics of socialism. His blank verse poetry is marked by decisive vision of future.
‘His poetry is marked with rebellion, and with to show is bitter right to be awake when the world is threaten by plague or war. His anti-fascism is often called communism’, noted Kapidžić-Osmanagić.
She reminded that Sarajlić would later become a poet of love, friendship, brotherly and fatherly attachment, and that one of the most basic characteristics of his poetry is struggle against fascism and his loyalty towards victims.
Sunita Subašić-Thomas said that Sarajlić is one of few poets who managed to touch every part of society. His poetry is close, it has been recited, everyone knows and it is a part of us. She added that he gave his intimate touch to all his poems which became well accepted in all people.
She said there were many critics who said that Sarajlić’s poetry is not worth much, because they wanted to impose their will of hermetic poetry on him, and he refused to write poetry that no one understood.
Marina Katnić-Bakaršić talked about the style of Sarajlić, noting toponyms in his poetry, and added that his poetry is a sort of a registry book, because he put all people from his life in his poems, which is truly special.
