The handover of respirators donated to Bosnia and Herzegovina by NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Coordination and Response Center and the Government of the Republic of Hungary, worth 1,104,900 euros, was held today in Sarajevo.

BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Ankica Gudeljevic emphasizes that today’s handover is proof that the joint action of various entities from the national or international level can contribute to achieving health security, protection and better health for all BiH residents.

“Today, BiH is taking over 30 respirators in support of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Donated respirators will be given to health institutions in accordance with the expressed needs, so that institutions in Republika Srpska will receive 20 respirators, and the other ten will go to Brcko District. the need for these respirators, “the minister explained.

She added that this medical equipment will enable an increase in the scope and quality of health services provided to coronavirus patients.

She reminded that in 2021, NATO donated BiH transport chambers with negative pressure, infrared contactless thermometers and portable X-ray devices with auxiliary equipment. She also reminded that the Republic of Hungary donated 200,000 doses of Sinofarm vaccine to BiH in the period when BiH was in a complex epidemiological situation.

The Ambassador of Hungary to BiH, Kristian Posa, reminded of the assistance that this country provided to BiH in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. He believes that with today’s donation, Hungary continues to serve the region in the neighborhood of Hungary, which includes BiH.

“I must emphasize that Hungary continues to support BiH’s European integration, because the European project cannot be completed without the full membership of the Western Balkans, including BiH. This is a common security, political and economic interest and you can always count on Hungary’s support.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Josip Brkic thanked for the “non-military dimension of cooperation between NATO and BiH, which proved that BiH has a partner in NATO that it can count on when it needs it most, and thanked the Hungarian Embassy, which showed a new dimension of cooperation with BiH.
