NATO ambassadors met today at Butmir to mark the 76th anniversary of the NATO alliance and hold a regular meeting of the Heads of Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting, chaired by the Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew Valas, was an opportunity for senior diplomatic representatives in BiH from all NATO countries to discuss current developments and various aspects of the NATO partnership with BiH.
“NATO’s commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina has been going on for almost three decades. As we mark the 76th anniversary of the most successful Alliance in history, our commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina and regional stability remains strong. A stable and secure Bosnia and Herzegovina and a peaceful Western Balkans are our strategic interests. In our 76th year, we will continue to demonstrate our unity, solidarity and determination,” said the Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew Valas.
On the occasion of NATO’s 76th anniversary, he opened the exhibition “30 Years of NATO in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which depicts the most important moments in the history of NATO-Bosnia and Herzegovina relations.
Under the motto “Together We Are Stronger”, this exhibition brings together under one roof missions that are mutually reinforcing and complementary – the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo Mission and EUFOR Operation Althea.
“This was also an opportunity to thank all NATO Allies for their contribution and commitment and support to both NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and a more stable future for everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, NATO Headquarters Sarajevo announced.
