NATO countries have agreed on a statement to spend five percent of GDP on defense annually by 2035, diplomats said.
The agreement on the statement for the upcoming summit was reached after objections from Spain were overcome.
The statement has been given the green light by all 32 NATO members, but will only become official once it is approved by leaders, including US President Donald Trump, at a summit in The Hague on Wednesday, June 25.
