Hutovo blato;Nature Park Hutovo is one of the most productive ecosystems in BIH, and its preservation is important not only for the animals there that depend on it, but for the economy of the entire region. This was indicated by the first analysis from the workshop that was organized in the park as part of the project by WWF “Parkovi Dinarskog luka“.

According to WWF Mediterranean, the analysis for the assessment of services was performed as according to the methodology of the Protected Area Benefits Assessment Tool (PA-BAT).

“Ecosystem Hutovo offers a full range of economically important services of huge importance for the good of humanity and the economy, from sustaining tourism, agriculture and fishing, to the purification of water and mitigation of natural disasters such as floods, which in 2010 caused millions in damage’’ according to the analysis.

The Director of the park Nikola Zovko said how Hutovo is not only known for its beauty and exceptional diversity concentrated in a rather small area, but also for the services that it lends to the population until the delta of the Neretva in Croatia.

“We hope the state authorities will take into account those services that are based on the future of Hutovo park, especially in the light of the threats by redirecting water construction of new hydropower plants on the upper horizon’’, said Zovko.

As part of the program for Days of Parks of Hutovo park, the activities in promoting ecotourism were presented, above all bird watching. In cooperation with the Association Eko Most from Mostar, an art colony “Enjoy the masterpiece of nature’’ led by academic painter Vladimir Mičković, academic painter Ivona Terzić and professor of visual communication Saša Šantić.
