Negotiations on electoral Reform continue, Situation has never been worse

A new round of negotiations on the reform of the Election Law is awaited at a time when state institutions are not functioning at all due to the blockades of Serbian parties, and the question is what has changed in the meantime, so mediators Angelina Eichhorst and Matthew Palmer are arriving in Sarajevo.

“Political leaders have not done the work necessary to bring a political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in line with European Union (EU) regulations and court rulings. Also, following a further unacceptable escalation by the Republika Srpska National Assembly (NARS) on December 10th, the political crisis is deepening,” they said on December 15th last year from the United States (U.S.) Embassy and the EU Delegation on the occasion of the cancellation of the resumption of negotiations.

In addition, they added that they appeal to the parties to give up maximalist proposals, which are not based on international and EU standards, and that the essence of democracy is not in constant delays in forcing someone’s demands or imposing the will of the majority.

In the meantime, several important events took place, first Milorad Dodik organized a hate parade in Banja Luka on January 9th to mark the RS entity’s unconstitutional day, and then traveled to Belgrade, where the Serbian president told him to return to state institutions.

While Plenkovic allegedly warmed relations, Milanovic sent messages that Dodik is Croatia’s partner. How unconvincing all this seemed was shown by yesterday‘s messages from the HNS that BiH will not exist if it is not as planned by the HDZ and HNS.

The president of the HSS BiH, Mario Karamatic, emphasizedthat the negotiation process was coming to an end and that in twenty days it would be known “whether there is any chance for this country or not”.

“This is where we will end the story of a future for BiH, whether it is bright and whether all constituent peoples and citizens are satisfied, or whether it is one creation that is on the verge of disintegration,” he added.
