[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Nermina Mehinović made her first needlepoint with a bridge as a motive when she was a high school girl. As time passed by, love for this kind of handiwork grew bigger and bigger, so this woman from Tuzla dedicated to purchasing needlepoint, in addition to making them.
Today, Nermina is a pride owner of the collection of nearly 350 needlepoint works which found their place in the cozy ambient of the needlepoint gallery in Tuzla, the first of its kind in BiH.
“My sister was doing needlepoint and then she gave me material so I could make one by myself. That was an old bride, a motive which is highly present in needlepoint works in our area. My family was dealing with needlepoint a lot, it represented a special experience and kind of peace,” Nermina said.
Depending on the site, it takes approximately two months to complete one needlepoint. It takes an hour and a half and 400 pinpricks to fill just one cube in the needlepoint canvas.
The story of this woman from Tuzla does not stop on the purchase of needlepoint. Namely, she made another step forward and opened a unique needlepoint gallery.
A vast treasure of handmade needlepoint works from the opus of Wiehler needlepoint found shelter in a spacious two-floor gallery, furnished in Baroque style, very unusual for this environment and the time we live in.
“After I gathered a larger number of needlepoint, I had to find a space where I will display them all, a place that will be their home and where other people can come and see them, at the same time enjoying the cozy ambient with positive energy,” said Nermina.
Women, birds, bridges, flowers, nature – these are just some of the motives that can be seen on nearly 200 displayed needlepoint, framed in Baroque and other kinds of frames and hanged on the walls of this gallery.
