Neskovic: “The Government of Republika Srpska is deceiving Citizens“

“Fifty is still more than ten marks, and I will not give up on my intention to provide citizens with more serious savings on fuel,” said Želimir Nešković, delegate of the Serb Club in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Nešković announced that he will once again place the issue of temporarily abolishing excise taxes on fuel on the agenda, arguing that current measures proposed by the authorities are insufficient and misleading.

“The government has put its hand deep into the pockets of citizens, and then the SNSD presents itself as a benefactor by returning a small portion of what it has taken. This is not a serious solution,” Nešković stated.

He emphasized that instead of the proposed refund of 10 pfennigs per liter, excise duties should be suspended altogether, which would reduce fuel prices by 30 to 40 pfennigs per liter, depending on whether it is diesel or gasoline.

“It is important to highlight that VAT would also be reduced in that case, which would result in four to five times greater savings for citizens than what the SNSD calls ‘aid’. Our people do not need alms, but concrete measures and tangible savings,” he added.

The vice president of the SDS stressed that the difference between the proposals of the SDS and SNSD is substantial.

“If an average citizen buys 100 liters of fuel per month, the assistance announced by Staša Košarac and Milorad Dodik would save around ten marks. By abolishing excise duties, savings would range from 35 to 47 marks, depending on the type of fuel. Just compare what you can buy for ten marks and what you can buy for 40 or 50 – the difference is obvious,” Nešković concluded.
