Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been diagnosed with intestinal inflammation and will be on a three-day leave, his office said on Sunday.

A statement from Netanyahu’s office said the prime minister fell ill overnight after suffering from food poisoning.

Describing his health as good, the office said “under the guidance of his doctors, the prime minister will rest at home for the next three days, from where he will conduct state affairs.”

According to Channel 12, the prime minister will not attend Sunday’s Knesset session and his trial in the Tel Aviv District Court scheduled for Monday.

Netanyahu appears in court twice a week for his corruption trial.

Netanyahu, whose trial began on May 24, 2020, is the first Israeli leader to testify as a criminal defendant in the country’s history.

He also faces charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, and the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for him and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November 2024 for crimes in Gaza, where nearly 59,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 2023.m, Federalna writes.
