Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the US administration’s statement that 90 percent of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza has been completed and added that there is no ceasefire agreement in sight.

In an interview with the American channel Fox News, Netanyahu commented on the current situation regarding a possible ceasefire in Gaza.

Netanyahu categorically said that the US administration’s statement that 90 percent of the cease-fire agreement in Gaza has been completed is not correct.

Claiming that Hamas said “no” to the agreement that US President Joe Biden announced to the public and the agreement that came to the agenda in July, Netanyahu said that the only demand of Hamas is that Israeli soldiers leave Gaza.

“It is wrong to continue to expect concessions from Israel after the death of six Israeli prisoners last weekend,” Netanyahu said and told the US administration to “pressure” Hamas to make concessions.

Pointing out that Israel will continue to control the Philadelphia Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border, Netanyahu said they are doing so to “prevent Hamas from re-arming in Gaza” and allegedly to “prevent the smuggling of prisoners into Egypt”.

Emphasizing that the cease-fire agreement is not close at the moment, Netanyahu said that Hamas is responsible for this whole situation.

Asked about US President Biden’s comment that the Israeli government and prime minister should make more efforts for a ceasefire, Netanyahu said he did not know what President Biden meant, AA writes.
