Neum increasingly attractive to Tourists, New Investments should solve Old Problems

The tourist offer in our only city with access to the sea, Neum, is getting better every year. In addition to the beaches, a large number of visitors come to Neum for various cultural and artistic manifestations and sports events that are held throughout the summer. Intensive work is being done on the infrastructure, which is currently one of the major shortcomings, and it is expected that this segment will also be improved in the coming years.

The course of the tourist season so far has met expectations. Hotel capacities are full, which is usual for this time of year. Tourists arrive from all over and have only words of praise.

“I live in Florida and travel all over the world, but when I come to Neum, it is the only place I can relax and I keep coming back. We come for two or three days and stay for ten days at least each time,” said Maja, a tourist.

Neum expands its tourist offer

Year after year, Neum is developing and expanding. This is the result of the systematic work of the municipal authorities in cooperation with the Tourist Board and hospitality workers.

“Last year, part of this new seaside promenade was completed, so Neum currently has about 5.5 kilometers of seaside promenade, from one end to the other of Neum. A contract has been signed and construction of a new road from Hutovo in the Neum municipality to the Ravno municipality is starting, and this will open up opportunities for us to develop new tourism products,” said Nikola Prkačin, director of the Neum Tourist Board.

Davor Krešić, marketing director of the Hotel Sunce, points out that guests are increasingly looking for a more comprehensive tourist offer.

“Guests today are not just looking for some kind of holiday tourism all seven days. In Neum, you can combine a great vacation with a combination of some kind of holiday and excursion tourism. So, first and foremost, value for money and the quality of accommodation in Neum,” said Krešić.

Transport infrastructure is a challenge

One of the most demanding segments in Neum for years has been transport infrastructure, which is a consequence of the lack of space. Currently, the planning documentation for the construction of public garages is in the process, which would put the arrivals of buses and delivery vehicles under control and avoid the collapse that is a daily occurrence in the summer months.

“The goal is not to turn anyone away from Neum. It is simply a desire to have some control over arrivals, because today we have about 15 buses, 20, and we even have a county regulation for one-day guests that the tourist tax is 1.5 BAM, to see who has come and whether they have paid that part. We are simply trying to bring all this into legal terms,” said Dragan Jurković, Mayor of the Municipality of Neum.

Tourists are satisfied with the offer

While the authorities are dealing with the harmonization and adoption of legal regulations, tourists are enjoying themselves.

“Believe me, there is nowhere better. Our sea, our Neum and I feel best in Neum,” said Esad from Maglaj.

“Nice sea, nice accommodation, everything. Everything is great,” said Asim from Velika Kladuša.

Investments and promotion of the hinterland
In order to be competitive, tourism workers in Neum follow European and global trends, and there are also multi-million investments so that this city can compete with other tourist destinations.

One of the long-term goals is the promotion of the Neum hinterland, Federalna writes.
