The completion of the project of marking and digital mapping of hiking and mountaineering trails was marked yesterday on Trebevic. This valuable project will significantly facilitate the movement through the mentioned Olympic mountain. The project was implemented by the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas as an expert mentor, XTime Agency as the conceptual creator of the project and application solution, and the Trebevic Mountain Service, the Mountaineering Association East Sarajevo, and the Mountaineering and Ski Association Trebevic Sarajevo.

This project included marking 44 kilometers of trails on Trebevic, five hiking and six hiking trails with adequate markings, info-totems and billboards, as well as additional resorts. In addition, maps are available now in digital form through the Trebevic Outdoor Routs mobile application, available free of charge for mobile devices. The project was supported by the city’s tourist organizations and the CantonalPublic Institution for Protected Natural Areas, together with the administrations of the City of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo.

“We will no longer need landmarks, some stable landmarks, we will now have a free mobile app on our mobile devices, not only to benefit us in protected areas but thousands of visitors who visit this area, ” told Osman Delic, director of Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas.

“The City of East Sarajevo and the City of Sarajevo are by no means in competition with each other since tourism has no competition. We have all shown together that we can work here to develop adventure tourism and other ideas, ” said Slavko Sladoje from the Tourist organization Jahorina – City of East Sarajevo.

Physical markings of trails and applications will from now on enable hikers and mountaineers to move more comfortably and safely on the mountain. Also, through this app, it is possible to find information about interesting locations such as mountain lodges, restaurants, accommodation, as well as contacts of the Mountain Rescue Service in case of unforeseen situations.

The coronavirus pandemic also affected most of us and motivated us to enjoy the beauties of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Trebevic certainly has a lot of content to offer. Besides a panoramic tour of the city by cable car and mapped trails, there is also a new Ferrata on Bijele stijene. We will also remind you that a few days ago, a unique attraction was promoted – a tourist balloon.
