The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the book “Sarajevo Jews from their Arrival in Bosnia to 1878”, by Aladin Husić.
Along with the promotion of the book, an accompanying exhibition entitled “Jews in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, conceived by Eli Tauber and Sejdalija Gušić, was opened. Both events are part of the broader project “History of Jews in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the formation and development of the Jewish community in Sarajevo, exploring their institutional organization and economic activities until the end of Ottoman rule. Through rich and detailed content, author Husić provides a valuable contribution to the study of the history of Sarajevo and its inhabitants.
At the same time, the exhibition on ten panels shows only a small part of the significant figures and contributions of the Jewish community of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their role in the social, economic and cultural life of Sarajevo was multiple and indelible. The authors of the exhibition announced that the exhibit will be further expanded, and a large exhibition is also planned, which will present the rich history of the Jews in BiH in an even more comprehensive way, BHRT writes.
