New Cases of COVID-19 and New Deaths reported in Sarajevo

After the analysis of 494 samples, collected in the period from December 26 to 28 this year, 75 newly infected with coronavirus were confirmed in the Sarajevo Canton.

Out of this number, 44 infected persons, ie 58.66 percent, belong to family clusters or contacts of patients from before, and they are in self-isolation from before. At the same time, 147 people recovered from Covid-19, which continues the positive trend of a higher number of recovering than the number of newly infected with this virus in the Sarajevo Canton.

A total of 170 people were hospitalized at the clinics and the Isolation Clinic of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo in Podhrastovi (111), and at the General Hospital “Prof. Dr. Abdulah Nakas” (59), 11 of them at KCUS and three at the General Hospital using mechanical support when breathing. A total of 17 patients are on non-invasive ventilation. In the past 24 hours, five people were discharged from this hospital treatment.

At the same time, two deaths were reported, so the number of deaths from the effects of Covid-19 was increased to 375. Currently, 1,352 cases of coronavirus infection are active in Sarajevo Canton. From January 30 to December 28 this year, a total of 24,045 coronavirus infections were registered, of which 22,318 recovered. In the period from December 15 to 29 this year, based on the recommendations of epidemiologists, decisions of the inspection or the Ministry of Health of Canton Sarajevo, 1,356 self-isolations were ordered.
