In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the coming days, cloudy weather is forecast with heavy rainfall and snow in the higher areas, accompanied by strong gusts of wind that will reach up to 150 kilometers per hour in some areas in the mountains.
The Republic Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republika Srpska has issued a warning that heavy rainfall is expected from January 16 to 20, even more abundant in the south, and that is why members of the Civil Protection and the professional territorial fire brigade in Banja Luka are carrying out preventive measures, i.e. full sandbags in order to readily meet the predicted heavy rainfall.
On this occasion, the company “Vode Srpske” also called on the population, institutions and economic entities to be on standby in order to take the necessary measures to protect against a possible overflow of the watercourse.
Similar weather conditions are forecast in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the fact that in some areas the unfavorable weather conditions will be further aggravated by the wind, which will reach a strength of up to 100 kilometers per hour in Mostar.
Meteorologist Nedim Sladić shared the forecast model of precipitation for the next four days on his Facebook page.
Judging by his estimates, the south of our country will be particularly exposed to precipitation, and up to 200 millimeters of rain per square meter is expected from Tuesday to Friday.
The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute (FHMZ) has also announced rain and snow in the mountains for the next few days, and such weather will continue throughout the week.
Sladić announces storm-force winds for Tuesday, January 17, which in most parts of the country will, on average, exceed 80, in some places even 90 kilometers per hour, and there is a special warning for Mostar and its surroundings, considering that gusts are expected in that part and up to 100 km/h.
As for temperature values, in the following days the morning air temperature will mostly range between 1 degree and 6 degrees, in the south of the country up to eight, and the highest daily air temperature will mostly be between five and ten, in the south of the country up to 13 degrees.
