Israeli airline Israir plans to introduce a new direct flight between Tel Aviv and Sarajevo during the summer season of 2026, giving the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina another important international connection, reports BiznisInfo.ba.

According to available information, flights on the Tel Aviv–Sarajevo route are planned once a week, starting on May 23, 2026. The route will be operated using an Airbus A320, in cooperation with Hello Jets.

The launch of the new route comes as Sarajevo International Airport continues its rapid development. In 2025, the airport recorded significant growth and ranked among the fastest-growing airports in Europe within its category.

Traffic Growth at Sarajevo Airport

With a 22.2% increase compared to 2024, Sarajevo Airport ranked fourth among medium-sized airports in terms of passenger traffic growth. In this category, Chisinau took first place with 46.8% growth, followed by Trieste and Bratislava with 25.2% growth each.

Meanwhile, Tel Aviv, among large airports, recorded a 31.9% increase in passenger traffic, further highlighting the potential of this new direct route between the two cities.

The introduction of the new flight is expected to further increase Sarajevo Airport’s capacity, improve Bosnia and Herzegovina’s connectivity with the Middle East, and open new opportunities for tourism and business development.

Passenger traffic growth data confirm a strong recovery and ongoing development of air transport, further strengthening Sarajevo Airport’s position as one of the most dynamic regional airports in 2025.
