Last week, according to him, the pilot test was made where they installed the device and tested electronic ticket.

“We set up device with complete electronics in the bus, and simulated the chip-card method of canceling tickets or taking the money from the card. Therefore, when entering the vehicle, the passenger will take the card into this device. The screen will show how much money you have on the card, and then it will take 1.60 BAM for the drive,” explained Vatric.

Implementation of the system for issuing, sale and cancelling electronic cards in this test line is fully funded by the company Lupon Ventures.

“The project is promising, and if all goes well on this test line, electronic payment cards will be introduced in other vehicles, such as trams, trolleybuses, buses and minibuses. This is an opportunity for Sarajevo to improve as the other major European cities,” said Vatric.

“Once you buy electronic ticket, there will no longer be any need to buy a new one. The system will operate in a way that you will charge the card when it is empty, just as it’s done with a mobile device. With the introduction of electronic billing, paper cards will not be distributed anymore,” added Vatric.

On the end, says the director, a new billing system has many advantages. It will speed up transport, reduce congestions and boost ticketing in public transportation.
