Numerous explosions were heard in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, immediately after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Thick smoke could be seen in the southern part of Beirut after a dozen explosions.

As reported by the Lebanese news agency NNA, the Hureyk neighborhood in the Dahieh region, in the south of Beirut, was targeted by airstrikes.

It added that Israeli warplanes bombed many facilities in the Dahieh region.

Many ambulances and civil defense teams have been dispatched to the region.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari announced that the planes targeted Hezbollah’s headquarters in the Dahieh region, south of Beirut.

Israeli media reports that the Israeli army targeted Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah.

According to Israel Army Radio, the army is investigating whether Nasrallah was present at the location targeted by Israeli planes, adding that “bunker bombs” were used in the attack, intended to destroy bunkers.

Al-Manar TV, which is close to Hezbollah, reported that four buildings were destroyed in the attack.

Israel’s Kanal13 television reported that official Tel Aviv had informed Washington that it would attack Beirut’s Dahieh district.

The Israeli army, which has been continuing controlled clashes with Hezbollah since October 8 last year, has since September 23 carried out hundreds of airstrikes on cities in the south of Lebanon, as well as on the Bekaa and Baalbek regions.

According to Lebanese authorities, 773 people were killed in the airstrikes, while nearly 150,000 were displaced by the bombing, AA writes.
