Newly elected Mayor visited the Municipality of Old Town Sarajevo

The newly elected mayor of the Old Town Sarajevo Municipality, Irfan Čengić, visited that municipality today. In the premises of the Old Town Municipal Council, Čengić was welcomed by the chairman of the Municipal Council Seid Škaljić and acting of the municipal head Mirsad Smajić.

Škaljić and Smajić congratulated Čengić on his election as mayor of Old Town Municipality and wished him successful work. They said that he now has a lot of work ahead of him, but that the Municipal Council and the municipal administration are at his disposal to initiate projects and business processes, and that they all work together for the benefit of the citizens and restore the reputation of the Municipality of Old Town Sarajevo.

During his first official visit to the Municipality of Old Town, after the declaration of victory in the early elections for the municipal mayor held on October 29, the newly elected mayor Irfan Čengić announced his priorities for future work.

”I will take over my duties in about 20 days, but I promised the people of Stari Grad to work from the first day after the election. Today I am with Acting held a meeting with Smajić and Škaljić to agree on activities for the November session of the Municipal Council. The priorities are the adoption of the budget rebalancing and the draft Development Strategy of the Municipality of Old Town Sarajevo,” said Čengić.

According to the first preliminary results of the election for municipal mayor published last night, 6,707 voters, or 62.88 percent, voted for Irfan Čengić (SDP).

The second candidate in the early elections, Dženan Selimbegović (SDA), won 3,958 votes, which is a percentage of 37.12 percent – it was announced from the Municipality of Old Town.
