hayatPresident of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić did not support the intention of the Republika Srpska to hold a referendum on the Day of RS, but they do not want to influence the change of political attitudes in that BiH entity, it was stated after a meeting of the state leadership with political leaders of Serbs from BiH in Belgrade. The meeting was held at the premises of the General Secretariat of the Presieent of the Republic of Serbia.

Member of the BiH Presidency Mladen Ivanić was the first to arrive to the meeting, together with the President of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) Mladen Bosić. After them, the President of RS Milorad Dodik and Prime Minister Željka Cvijanović also arrived.

The journalists received the following press statement:

President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić and Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today in Belgrade with representatives of political life of Republika Srpska. After the meeting, the President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia agreed upon the following joint statement:

“President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić and Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić talked today with the most prominent representatives of the political life of Republika Srpska. Main topic of the meeting was the preservation of stability and peace in the region. President and Prime Minister pointed out that the policy of Serbia is to respect the territorial integrity of BIH and the integrity of the BiH entity Republika Srpska. President and Prime Minister condemned the organized attacks on Republika Srpska and the Serb nation that come from certain countries in the region, as well as the hypocritical silence and creation of false symetries and balances by a significant part of international community. Nikolić and Vučić did not provide support, but they also did not want to affect the changes of political attitudes and legitimately elected politicians in Republika Srpska in any way on the occasion of the holding of the referendum. Regardless of certain differences in perceptions of the situation in the region, Serbia will always support the Serb nations, citizens of Republika Srpska, and its institutions,” it was stated.
