Dario Kordić is a convicted war criminal, responsible for the murder of 116 people, including 11 children. It is a crime that has no justification, like all other war crimes – the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, said today.
He points out that Kordić’s statement that appeared in public proves that glorifying, defending and denying war crimes is unacceptable in any form.
“War criminals are the worst kind of people. These are those who use the whirlwind of war to survive on the weak, women, the elderly, civilians in general. They are therefore also the biggest cowards of wars. The only right thing would be if we do not give him, all other war criminals and those who glorify them the space to spread their sick ideas. Their statements are not worth commenting on. Glorifying criminals is a criminal offense,” emphasized Nikšić.
This, as he said, is just another proof that as a society we need to strengthen in the realization that we must protect ourselves from all criminals. Unfortunately, he believes, in Bosnia and Herzegovina there is a small number of those who are ready to face crimes in their own ranks.
”Bosnia and Herzegovina needs a systematic approach in fostering a culture of remembrance, education about the causes and consequences of war crimes and compensation for victims, to the extent that it is even possible. The culture of populism and verbal patriotism that begins and ends with words does not help. True patriotism is work to strengthen the state and its institutions, against which the war criminals fought. We need to work on developing awareness that the criminals harmed everyone with their actions, first of all the victims themselves, who deserve our eternal memory, but in the long term also those they referred to in the commission of evil,” stressed Prime Minister Nikšić.
On his official Facebook profile, he said that we must build a Bosnia and Herzegovina in which no criminal is welcome or celebrated, in which only every victim is remembered and honored.
“I am using this opportunity as a man, husband, father, grandfather, and finally as a politician to make an appeal to all judicial institutions to complete the prosecution of persons accused of war crimes as soon as possible, especially those responsible for the death of our children. By issuing sentences for each crime, we would establish a stronger foundation for restoring trust and for a better future together. No crime is justified, no judgment must be denied, no victim forgotten,” concluded the FBiH Prime Minister.
