The Consul General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Munich, Vera Sajic, stated on Friday evening that no citizens of BiH were killed in the catastrophic floods in Germany.
“I am in constant contact with my colleagues, and there are no victims from BiH in the floods,” said Sajic.
She reminded that more than 100 people died in the floods, and more than 1,300 disappeared.
“All services in Germany are on standby, but I hope the worst is over,” Sajic added.
German emergency responders were on Friday still searching for hundreds of missing people after the worst floods in living memory killed 103 people in the country’s west, France24 writes.
“I fear that we will only see the full extent of the disaster in the coming days,” Chancellor Angela Merkel said from Washington, where she met with President Joe Biden.
Neighbouring Belgium counted at least 18 dead, while Luxembourg and the Netherlands were also severely affected by the torrents of water, with thousands evacuated in the city of Maastricht.
But Germany’s toll was by far the highest at 103, and likely to rise with large numbers of people still missing in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, the hardest-hit states.
