Amra Begic Fazlic, assistant director of the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Center, said that life in Srebrenica is an eternal reminder of the crimes that happened not only in July 1995.
“There are many reminders of the crimes that were committed in and around Srebrenica. Every morning from my courtyard, I look into the windows of the Suljic family, who were shot on May 8, 1992. I would say that Srebrenica and every square of it is a reminder of the terrible crimes and genocide committed against our population,” said Begic Fazlic.
When asked about coexistence in Srebrenica, Begic Fazlic says that it is something that everyone strives for, but that it is very difficult: “Can someone be forgiven who asked for forgiveness and did not. I have been in Srebrenica since 2003. No one has ever come to me to say he is sorry. That my grandmother, grandfather and 26 relatives were killed, to ask for an apology and anything like that,” adds Amra Begic Fazlic, assistant director of the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Center.
