The European Council meets in mid-December. That’s how much time the leaders of the ruling coalition have to overcome extremely bad relations. Instead of the reform law, the focus is on potential changes in the Council of Ministers. And time is running out. The opposition accuses those who failed to do so in the past 15 years cannot secure candidate status. And they see the key to change in the modernization of elections. When vote stealing stops, the country will not be run by, as they say, illegitimate individuals.
Neither Zukan Helez will be replaced, nor Staša Košarac. There is nothing to do with the reconstruction of the Council of Ministers, according to one of the members of the state executive, Minister Sevlid Hurtić, who claims that relations within the Council are more than fair.
“Because in BiH, the system around the appointment of new ministers and the dismissal of existing ones is a bit complicated, so I don’t think that will happen because there needs to be votes in both houses in order to do it,” said Sevlid Hurtić, Minister of human rights and refugees of BiH.
Bad relations between coalition partners, blockages in the work of institutions, requests for layoffs – a typical political day in Bosnia and Herzegovina. But quite dangerous at the moment. There is very little time left for the ruling party to agree on a set of reform laws, otherwise nothing of candidate status.
“I can only appeal to those who decide to use this chance. There will soon be a meeting of the European Council, in mid-December, already next week, on the fifth of December, we have invited political leaders to Brussels to make the final step, before the Council session, to bring reforms to the table, and we all know what they are,” said Johann Sattler , head of the EU delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The opposition from Republika Srpska within PSBiH attacked the first man of the EU Delegation to BiH, Johann Sattler, they say, the European Union invests in BiH in everything and anything but not in the key issue, which is the modernization of the electoral process, scanners, video surveillance, they say. as long as there is theft in elections, there is no European path and no progress.
“And where the number one priority out of those 14 priorities on the road to the EU is the Election Law, that is the number one priority, the most important priority in order for us to get into a situation where we don’t talk about this and don’t deal with their internal stunts, which I believe that most of it has been agreed”, said Branislav Borenović, president of the PDP.
“And in that artificial crisis, national tensions start due to irresponsible national policies and then we have irresponsible politicians. Therefore, we should not get carried away and believe that this government structure elected in this way can be the structure that will lead Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the EU”, said Milan Milićević, president of the SDS.
It was clear, says Nebojša Vukanović, that after the positions were divided, the reforms would stop. He believes that the leaders of the Troika bear the greatest responsibility because they consciously made a “pact with the devil”, Milorad Dodik.
“You come to act as the protector of Bosnia and Herzegovina once a year in Banjaluk, and you made a pact with the one who is the biggest enemy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who has been systematically destroying it for 15 years, did we warn you? Did you ignore the warning, is everything happening that I said would happen, a complete paralysis of the system, they will sit down, divide the loot and then they will come to the canak and fight over who will eat more, and the people happily run away from here “, he said. The oppositionists believe that all masks will fall, the moment the parliamentarians declare about the technical changes to the Electoral Law. Then it will be clear who is in favor of stealing and who is not. The leaders of the federal coalition exchanged a few words on this topic yesterday. Although Dragan Čović announced imminent changes, it is hardly the technical ones, scanners and video surveillance that are above, as they say in HDZ, “legitimate representation”, N1 reports.
