The greatest tennis player of all time, Novak Djokovic, admitted that for some time already, he has been thinking intensively about what his life will look like after the end of his professional career.
During the US Open, he spoke about the challenges of transition and revealed what he would like to do when he retires from the tennis courts.
“I have always tried to think beyond tennis, especially in the last 12 to 15 years. I heard from many athletes how difficult it was for them when they stopped playing, especially if they were not prepared for that moment. I know that for me it will be a sad and emotional day, but what is key is how to redirect the adrenaline that sport brings,” said Djokovic in a conversation with Jay Shetty.
The Serbian ace emphasizes that sport remains a love for his whole life, but that at the same time, he also has broader interests:
“Wellness, a healthy way of life, that is my great passion. Hydration, nutrition, exercise, sleep… I would like the world to be healthier. Even small steps in that direction have an effect. Not even many athletes understand the importance of hydration; it is not just water, but also minerals and supplements. The best is to take everything in through food, but it is not always possible.”
Novak also spoke about his brand SILA, as well as about projects that are yet to be presented. He also revealed that he always travels with a special “suitcase” full of devices and aids for regeneration:
“Infrared light, electromagnetic waves, oils, tapes, vibrations, light therapy… I am curious and I like to try everything that can help me. With partners, I have already been working for some time on a machine that would combine several of these functions into one.”
In conclusion, Djokovic emphasized that until the end of the season, he will definitely compete in Athens, while the rest of the calendar will be determined later.
