Novalic: FBiH Economy grows by about Six Percent

Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalic, at the session of the House of Peoples of the Federal Parliament at which the Draft Budget of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) for this year was accepted by a majority of votes, said in his address to the delegates that last year’s economic growth in FBiH was about six percent, which is quite impressive and continues to be the goal in the future, he added.

”There will be no official data on the gross domestic product until the end of March, but all estimates indicate that our economy has never produced more goods and services than last year. What I emphasize is not related to the growth of prices, but to the productivity of our economy, higher global demand, and a change in supply chains from the Far East to Eastern Europe, ” stressed Novalic.

The federation also managed to reclaim the number of employees lost due to the pandemic, so employment was higher in December than at the time the disaster was declared. In the meantime, it has decreased, but according to the Prime Minister, it is due to the retirement of a certain number of employees.

Novalic expects that 2022 will be a record number of employees, and he hopes that the Federal Parliament will adopt new fiscal laws as a basis for additional growth in the number of employees and salaries in the Federation, and also increase the degree of competitiveness of the domestic economy.

”None of that would be possible without budget support, ” the prime minister added.

”After five years, the minimum wage was increased for the first time in the Federation, and pensioners received financial aid twice during the year, which has never happened before, ” the Prime Minister also stated, summing up the past year.

When it come to this year, he announced continued support for vulnerable categories.

”In the following months, the results of a new survey on household consumption, which has not been conducted since 2015, will enable social measures to be targeted at those who need it most,” Prime Minister Novalic told delegates of House of Peoples.
