The focus of discussion was the question of continuation of the stand-by arrangement with this international financial institution and the measures that the Government of FBiH is undertaking in order to continue with the ongoing reform process.

“We especially need your technical assistance, maybe even more than the financial one. We need your experience in the implementation of certain reforms that are aiming the budget and any other stabilization in the FBiH and BiH “, said the Prime Minister of FBiH.

He especially emphasized what was done so far on the implementation of the Reform Agenda, which is a condition for the continuation of the arrangement.

“We are ready to implement measures from the Letter of Intent to the IMF, and in that terms, we are doing our best to meet the set goals,” said Novalic, particularly emphasizing that the priorities in the upcoming period will be the reform and improvement of the system of tax collection and solving the problem with fiscal charges, regarding which certain steps has already been taken.

When it comes to the continuation of the arrangement, IMF representatives stated problems in the banking sector of Republika Srpska as one of the key problems, with the hope that the stability of the financial sector will be preserved.

Part of the conversation was dedicated to the measures that the Government of FBiH is undertaking in order to increase the employment, especially of young people, which already gave some visible positive results.

Prime Minister Novalic informed his guests that for the first time after the war, the government has taken the problem of youth unemployment seriously, and with the program of 50 million BAM allocated directly from the budget, they are encouraging their employment and self-employment, and exclusively in the real sector, as announced from the Office of Public Relations of the Government of FBiH.
