Number of registered Vehicles in BiH in 2018 records an Increase of 4.21 pct year-on-year

A total of 1,064,130 vehicles were registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in 2018, an increase of 43,010 vehicles, or 4.21 percent year-on-year, BiH Automoto Club (BIHAMK) stated in a report on Friday.

The report states that the economy crises in the country and introduction of new regulations on the import of road motor vehicles resulted that 85.0 percent of cars are older than 13 years.

“A total of 245,086 cars use gasoline, which amounts to 23.27 percent and 746,029 cars use diesel, which amounts to 72.07 percent,” the report reads, adding that the number of vehicles using alternative fuels has increased significantly and now amounts to more than 4.5 percent of the total number of vehicles in BiH.

The report states that there are 916,699 personal vehicles, and the highest number is in Canton Sarajevo, a total of 134,191.

For the first time, 89,110 vehicles were registered which amounts 8.37 percent of the total number, and by comparing data from 2017, it is evident that the number of newly registered vehicles increased by 13,989 vehicles, or by 18.62 percent.

When it comes to the number of used motor vehicles imported, a total of 75,990 were registered in 2018 which represents an increase of 13,175 vehicles compared to 2017, an increase of 20.97 percent year-on-year.

By analyzing and comparing data on registered motor vehicles in BiH in 2018 with data from the previous five years, the number of registered vehicles increased by 18.84 percent, the report concludes.
