Number of Tourists who visited BiH increased by 83 percent

In the period January-August 2021, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) made 610.616 visits, which is 83.3 percent more than in the same period in 2020.

According to the data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH, tourists realized 1.471.869 overnight stays, which is 72.7 percent more compared to the same period in 2020.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists increased by 48.0 percent, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists is higher by 105 percent compared to the same period last year.

The share of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays is 48.5 percent, while the share of foreign tourists is 51.5 percent.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most overnight stays were realized by tourists from Serbia (17.4 percent), the United Arab Emirates (15.6 percent), Croatia (9.0 percent), Saudi Arabia (8.0 percent), Germany (5.1 percent), and Kuwait (4.0 percent), which is a total of 59.1 percent. Tourists from other countries realized 40.9 percent of overnight stays.

When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists in our country, these countries took the first place: Finland with an average stay of 5.6 nights, Iran with 5.4 nights, Malta with 4.2 nights, and Kuwait with 4.1 nights.

In terms of the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was realized within the activity “Hotels and similar accommodation” with a share of 92.7 percent.
