Regardless of the emergency situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina caused by the coronavirus, officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of BiH continue to carry out intensive activities.

The ITA states that authorized officials from the Sarajevo Regional Center seized 1,159 kg of tobacco and 648 packs of cigarettes in several separate actions, which were not marked with the ITA excise stamps.

The total market value of excise products that were to be sold on the “black market” in BiH is 180,000 BAM.

Acting on the instructions of the Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and based on previous operational activities carried out in the field, authorized ITA officers searched the facilities at two locations in the Ilidza municipality and confiscated 919.5 kg of tobacco and 648 packs of cigarettes.

During the control of the passenger vehicle, they seized 120 kg of cut dried tobacco, which was intended for sale on the “black market”. Persons who have been temporarily deprived of these excise products will be subject to appropriate proceedings before the competent courts in BiH.
