Ryanair presented on Tuesday new airlines to five European destinations that will be accessible from Sarajevo Airport, most likely from spring. In addition, it was announced that the new lines will include the airlines Wizz Air and SunExpress.

These three companies applied for a public call for subsidizing air traffic in the area of Sarajevo Canton, which was launched by the Canton Sarajevo Tourist Board, and passed all the necessary conditions to receive the money.

Ryanair immediately introduced five new lines, and since it is a low-cost company, it is expected that the tickets will be from 30 euros for destinations: Milan, Brussels, London, Memmingen and Gothenburg.

Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo Nihad Uk announced that from spring there will be 10 to 15 new lines from Sarajevo.

“From the spring of next year, in addition to today’s five flights, I want to say that we will have a total of 10 to 15 new tourist destinations that will be connected to the capital,” he said.

On this occasion, it is expected that SunExpress will launch flights to Izmir and Antalya in Turkey, and Wizz Air will launch a flight to Abu Dhabi, for which visas were recently revoked, and to London and Rome, Klix.ba reports.

Sarajevo Airport welcomed 119.458 passengers in October, representing an increase of 8.4% on the same month last year, its highest percentile monthly growth since March.

Figures improved 24.9% on the pre-pandemic 2019. During the January – October period, Sarajevo Airport welcomed 1.201.977 passengers through its doors, down 3.2% on last year, but an improvement of 18% on the pre-pandemic 2019, Ex Yu Aviation news reports.
