The Office of the High Representative (OHR) announced the naming of the building “Serbian House” in Brčko District. They pointed out that this is not in accordance with the multi-ethnic structure of Brčko District and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Recently, we have witnessed the constant spread of unverified claims that the purchase of an abandoned casino facility in the Brčko District by the Catering Service of the Republika Srpska in 2025 represents a threat to the full and consistent implementation of the Final Arbitration Award for Brčko or a potential violation of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina or the Statute and laws of the Brčko District.
The supervisor for Brčko District has been in contact with the Government of Republika Srpska and the leadership of Brčko District regarding this issue for several months,” the OHR stated.
OHR states that the timely removal of this sign will provide a positive environment for dialogue on other issues related to this facility.
“As stated in the September 2025 correspondence between the supervisor and the Secretary General of the Government of the Republika Srpska, which was delivered to the leaders of the Brčko District, no entity can exercise executive power in the Brčko District except in cases where this is expressly defined by the Statute of the District. The Supervisor noted that he has full confidence in the ability of the leaders of the Brčko District to resolve this issue in the interest of all interested parties and in accordance with the Statute.”
