On This Day: The First Official Match of B&H National Football Team

teamBIHNational football team of B&H played its first official match against Albania in 1995 away from home, where they were defeated with the score 2: 0.

A year later, Football Association of B&H was accepted in the world football federation FIFA, which allowed them to participate for the first time in the qualifiers for the World Cup in France in 1998. The first “home” match, B&H had to play in Bologna, on neutral ground. The first qualifying match was played against Greece, in Kalmati. In 1998, Football Association of B&H was accepted in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) as a full member.
