SARAJEVO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — One person was arrested Thursday for allegedly organizing a terrorist group in Gradacac, a city located 170 kilometers north of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) capital Sarajevo.

Under the operation code-named “Damask”, members of BiH State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), arrested the person suspected of doing a criminal offense of “Organizing a Terrorist Group” and “Unlawful Formation and Accession to Foreign Paralegal Formations”, according to SIPA official website Thursday.

After the oral order by BiH Court, SIPA police officers conducted raids by searching the premises used by the suspect and movable property.

“During the search, a certain amount of military equipment, computers, mobile phones and SIM cards, USB sticks and other items that can serve as evidence in criminal proceedings have been temporarily seized,” SIPA official website said.
After the raid, the deprivation of liberty was carried out and the criminal investigation over the suspect was carried out in SIPA premises, after which the acting prosecutor will decide on further actions.

The Global Terrorism Index 2017 highlights that terrorism remains unevenly spread throughout the world, pointing out that BiH is on 78th place when it comes to the risk of terrorist attacks. The first place is taken by Iraq, followed by Afghanistan and Nigeria.
