jahorina-film-festivalThe opening ceremony of this year’s 10th Jahorina Film Festival (International festival of documentary and short film, tourism and ecology) will be held today, the 14th of September, in Pale, and a total of 150 films from 39 countries will be screened during  the four-day festival.

Documentary film “Jadranka”, directed by Branko Lazic, will be screened as part of the opening ceremony of the festival. The film is a kind of homage to singer-songwriter and pop singer Jadranka Stojakovic, who died at the age of 66 in Banja Luka.

In the festival program from 14th to 17th September in the eight festival categories, authors will fight for one of the official awards and “Golden Maple” for the best documentary and documentary TV film, short film, experimental film, animated film, student film, environmental film and tourist film.

The Grand Prix for best film regardless of the category will be awarded as well as the “Golden Maple” for the best BH film.

The films will be judged by two juries. The jury consisted of Mario Culum, Osman Arslanagic and Snjezana Lalovic will review the first six categories at the festival, while the jury consisting of Jan Psenica, Dzevdet Tuzlic and Darko Halapija will review the environmental and tourism films.

The award ceremony and the opening of the festival are scheduled for Saturday, the 17th of September at 2.00 pm, as announced by the Jahorina Film Festival Team.

Jahorina Film Festival, for which organizers say that it is considered as one of the most important film events in BiH after Sarajevo Film Festival, was founded in 2007, and it is supported by the Protocol on Cooperation between the cities of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo in 2009.
