Tonight, 21 May, citizens of Sarajevo will have the opportunity to see the opera ‘Carmen’ directed by Dora Ruždjak Podolski from Croatia and the conductor will be Robert Homen.
Carmen is an opera in four acts by the French composer Georges Bizet. The libretto was written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on a novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée.
The opera, written in the genre of opéra comique with musical numbers separated by dialogue, tells the story of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who is seduced by the wiles of the fiery Gypsy, Carmen.
Cast: Sanja Anastasia, Efte Kişlali, Denis Isaković, Adema Pljevljak-Krehić, Melisa Hajrulahović, Zana Staniškovska, Dragan Pavlović, Amir Saračević, Leonardo Šarić, Edin Daši with the Choir of Sarajevo National Theatre, Sarajevo Philharmonics and Children’s Choir ‘Mladen Pozajić.
The opera will start at 7.30 p.m.
