Fletcher Burton, head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, strongly backs the worldwide “One Billion Rising” campaign on 14 February 2013 to raise awareness and combat the global problem of violence against women and girls.

Burton, who is taking part in a One Billion Rising event at 14:00 on 14 February in downtown Sarajevo, underscored the OSCE Mission’s commitment to gender equality and to women’s full participation in society and equal exercise of their human rights.

“Preventing violence against women and girls is essential to building a more peaceful, prosperous and democratic society. Only together can we make the world a more secure place,” said Burton.
