Over 166 Thousand Tourist Arrivals recorded in BiH

In Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2023, tourists made 166,172 visits, which is 0.9 percent more compared to May 2023 and 17.3 percent more compared to June 2022. In June, 333,409 overnight stays were realized, which is 2.4 percent more compared to May 2023 and 8.5 percent more compared to June 2022. In the total number of overnight stays, the share of domestic tourists in June was 33 percent, while 67 percent was the share of foreign tourists.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in June was higher by 1.0 percent compared to May 2023 and by 11 percent lower compared to June 2022, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists in June was higher by 3.1 percent compared to on May 2023 and by 21.6 percent higher compared to June 2022.

In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists in June 2023, the most overnight stays were achieved by tourists from: Turkey (11.3 percent), Serbia (10.5 percent), Croatia (10 percent), Germany (5.3 percent), Slovenia (5. 1 percent), Poland (4.8 percent), USA (4.7 percent), United Arab Emirates (4.1 percent), Austria (2.9 percent), and France and Saudi Arabia with each (2.8 percent) which is a total of 64.3 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 35.7 percent of overnight stays.

In terms of the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, the following were in first place in June: Albanians with four nights, Kuwaitis with 3.7 nights, Danes with 3.4 nights, Qataris with 3.1 nights and the French with an average stay of three nights, data are the BiH Statistics Agency.

In June 2023, 19,778 rooms, apartments and camping sites were available to tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is 0.3 percent less than in June 2022, and 43,721 available beds, which is 0.6 percent more than the same month in 2022.

In June 2023, a total of 18,008 rooms and apartments were available to tourists within the scope of activities – Hotels and similar accommodation, which is 1.5 percent more than in June 2022, and 38,038 beds, which is 2.8 percent more than in the same month of the previous year.

The net occupancy rate of rooms in June 2023 was 36.3 percent, and of permanent beds 27.5 percent, while in June 2022, the occupancy rate of rooms was 32.6 percent, and of permanent beds 25.6 percent. According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was achieved within the Hotels and similar accommodation sector with a share of 94.1 percent.
