The Federal Directorate of Commodity Reserves informed the public today that it is completing the first round of distribution of packages with basic food items to socially vulnerable residents in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Directorate of Commodity Reserves is completing the first round of distribution of aid packages for 17,000 beneficiaries by the end of this month. This is exactly what was announced by the decisions made in accordance with the Regulation on assistance to the population due to the increase in the consumer price index, which was adopted by the Federation of BiH Government. The same users will receive these aid packages in the 11th month of this year, when we will finish the second round of distribution. The package is divided into three categories, depending on the number of household members. The first category has up to two members, the second from three to five, and the third more than six,” said the director of the Federal Directorate of Commodity Reserves, Tončo Bavrka.

According to him, the projections on the amount of packages for all categories were made on the basis of the standard assessment of the monthly consumption per person of basic foodstuffs, which are in commodity reserves. Along with the package, each household receives a list of items in the packages, with the seal of the Directorate. As the director of Bavrka explains, the number of members is different from household to household and that is the reason why the package values are different.

“Also, we did the initial projection based on the number of 10,000 users, but in the meantime, we received a list of 17,000 people from the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, which according to the Government Decree is responsible for providing data. Therefore, we distributed the goods from our stocks to that number of users. The division for all of them will thus be made in two rounds,” said Bavrka.

Even in the neighbouring countries, such a package of aid to the population is distributed in stages, and in order to prevent the delivery of all quantities, eventually, these goods will be sold on the black market.

“The work of distributing packages is carried out by the Federal Directorate together with all Red Cross organizations in 77 municipalities and cities in the Federation, as well as the Red Cross of FBiH, and the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and centers for social work,” explained Bavrka.

According to the government decree, this assistance is provided by the recipients of permanent financial assistance, who exercised this right in the month of June, and then by persons, i.e. families in a state of social need, who, according to the records of the competent centers for social work, i.e. municipal social protection services, have exercised their right the right to help in the previous six months, it was announced from the Office of the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina for public relations.
