air-pollution-sarajevoOn the basis of the thematic debate on air pollution in the FBiH that was held last week in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the FBiH, deputies reached several conclusions.

The first one was that they should adopt a new Law on Environmental Protection of FBiH and respective executive acts, which will be in accordance with the relevant directives in EU countries, and to pay special attention to the system of issuing environmental permits in order to have adequate and functional legal framework for significant improvement of the efficiency of environmental permissions. Moreover, they should also amend the laws that refer to the monitoring of air quality.

The Ministry is obliged, within three months, when it comes to sanctions, to comply all the laws that are regulating the sector of the environment with the Law on Offenses of FBiH and to prescribe punishments for polluters who are late or not realizing projects from previous environmental permits.

It was also concluded that they should secure efficient, reliable and transparent system for control of emission by establishing a cadaster of polluters and the register of emission and transfer of pollution.

By conclusions of the House of Representatives was intensified inspections at all levels and staff reinforcement of sector for environmental protection in the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of FBiH.
