Passenger and freight Train collided in Serbia, 52 Injured

A passenger and freight train collided in the town of Ratkovo in the municipality of Odžaci, there were no fatalities, and 52 people were taken to the hospital, reports RTS.

According to reports, three people were detained for treatment, including the train driver.

At 6:47 p.m., a passenger train collided with a freight train from the rear on the Odžaci – Ratkovo railway line, the “Serbian Railway Infrastructure” announced.

“The collision occurred when the passenger train overtook the freight train and hit the rear carriage of the freight train,” the statement added.

According to RTS, the passenger train derailed during the collision.

“Infrastructure of Serbian Railways” states that both trains traveled from Novi Sad to Bogojevo.
