zgradi Parlamentarne skupštine BiHThe Peace Implementation Council, PIC, said in a communique released after the December 9-10 session that the focus in Bosnia needed to be on the formation of new governments, which could then start taking moves on the economy.

The PIC, the international body charged with implementing the Dayton Peace Agreement for Bosnia, also urged the authorities to speed up flood relief, prosecute corruption and war-crimes and improve education standards.

Valentin Inzko, the High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose office oversees implementation of the 1995 Dayton Accords, on Wednesday said that the PIC had held a constructive meeting with the country’s new tripartite Presidency.

“After the organs of governments are formed, Bosnia and Herzegovina should be brought back to the right track, and assure jobs so that the citizens could live well,” Inzko said.

Noting that the economic situation was still tough, Inzko said he detected some positive differences now in comparison to the situation after previous elections.

Among the more positive circumstances than in 2010, he said forming a government would likely be faster now. After the last election four years ago, it took 15 months. Another positive element was the EU’s initiative on economic reforms, he said.
