1000_1474366541semiha-borovac-platforma-aa-20092016_2Presentation of the Peacebuilding platform, as the crown document of the project PRO-Future through the activity of USAID, CRS and Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, was presented in Sarajevo yesterday.

The document was created in the form of a declaration, on the basis of work implemented in more than 50 BiH communities, in cooperation with experts who put their knowledge and time at disposal for the PRO-Future project.

According to representatives of Catholic Relief Services, the Platform is a morally and ethically necessary document that relies on good will and responsibility of the key actors, with emphasis on politicians, to work devotedly on the building of permanent and stable peace in BiH.

Majda Behrem Stojanov, Director of the project PRO-Future, emphasized the importance of communities which work every day on restoring trust and understanding among the citizens of BiH.

Presentation of the Platform was opened by Semiha Borovac, Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH. Borovac called the Platform a crown of USAID’s project PRO-Future, highlighting that its aim is to advocate for and accept the process of building peace and trust among nations in BiH, ethnic and religious communities.

Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović recognized the Peacebuilding Platform as a true effort in the establishment of inclusive dialogue and promotion of diversity.

BiH Presidency Member Mladen Ivanić stated that BiH can be a good example of cooperation in the times when millions of people lose their homes and loved ones.

Member of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović praised the CRS, who have been working on building peace in BiH for 20 years now.

Nerzuk Ćurak, member of the expert team of the project PRO-Future, called yesterday’s event the most important event in the country.

“This is a big day for BiH and the event of the day because representatives of authorities and civil society gathered in the Parliament of our country to discuss the most important idea in life – the idea of peace. In addition, another door towards the EU opened. European Union is a community inspired by the most progressive idea in human history – the idea that different nations and create a common good. In that sense, the idea of EU is compatible with the idea of BiH and I hope our decision makers will recognize that and support the progressive ideas in our country,” Ćurak said.
