Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar stated that Israel’s attack on civilians waiting for food at humanitarian aid trucks in Gaza evoked the same feeling as the massacre at the Markale market during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

“In light of the tragic events unfolding in Gaza, where over 100 Palestinians were killed during the delivery of humanitarian aid, the world witnesses a staggering number of deaths exceeding 30.000. This horrific figure serves as a reminder of the grave responsibility of those committing acts of violence. It is deeply disturbing to see history repeating itself in its most dreadful forms,” Pirc Musar announced on the social media X.

“As a young journalist who once witnessed the horrors of the attack on the Sarajevo market, memories of those killed continue to haunt me. Yesterday’s events in Gaza, where lives were destroyed while awaiting necessary humanitarian aid, evoke a similar feeling of shock and sorrow. How many more lives must be lost while waiting for food,” the President of Slovenia questioned.

Two days ago, the Israeli army bombarded and opened fire on Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid at the al-Rashid street at the Al-Nabulsi roundabout to the west of Gaza City, killing 112 people and injuring 760.

The first massacre at the Markale market occurred on February 5th, 1994, when a shell fired from the positions of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) killed 68 people and wounded 144.

In the second massacre carried out by Serbian forces at the Markale market on August 28th, 1995, 43 civilians were killed and 75 were wounded, BHRT writes.
