Plenkovic received a mandate to form the government

The President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, received today the President of the HDZ, Andrej Plenković, who handed him the signatures of the representatives as part of the procedure provided for in the Constitution for granting a mandate to form the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

“After submitting 78 signatures of the elected representatives in the 11th convocation of the Croatian Parliament, I was entrusted with the mandate to form the Croatian Government. And in the third mandate, we continue to work for the betterment of Croatia”, said Plenković after the meeting.

Milanović, on the other hand, announced himself only with a statement in which he stated that “Plenković proved that he enjoys the trust of the majority of all representatives”.

According to the Decision on entrusting the mandate to form the Government of the Republic of Croatia, immediately after the formation of the Government, and no later than within 30 days from the acceptance of the mandate, the mandate holder Andrej Plenković is obliged to present the program of the Government and the Government to the Croatian Parliament and request a vote of confidence.

We would like to remind you that on Thursday, based on the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and the Law on the Election of Representatives to the Croatian Parliament, President Milanović passed the Decision on convening the first session of the Croatian Parliament for May 16, 2024, N1 writes.
