In Bosnia and Herzegovina, polling stations opened at 7 a.m. as part of the General Election.
3,408,517 voters have the right to vote, while 48,078 of them are registered outside the country. 45,457 voters will vote by mail, while 2,621 voters will vote in 20 diplomatic and consular missions of BiH in 13 countries.
This year’s elections will be the first in BiH where biometric voter identification, ballot scanners and fast transmission of election results will be used.
A voter can exercise his right to vote with one of the valid identification documents of Bosnia and Herzegovina – an identity card, driver’s license or passport.
There will be more than 4,000 operators at the polling stations as technical support, as well as 500 field technicians to eliminate possible problems in the operation of devices for voter identification and scanning of ballots.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina appointed more than 5,000 presidents of polling committees and around 3,300 deputies, while municipal and city election commissions had problems with appointing members and deputies of polling committees due to an insufficient number of proposals from political entities.
